Denise Kiernan and Karen Abbott TONIGHT! Celeste Ng and Tommy Hays Tomorrow!
If you lived in NYC, you might be able to happen upon back-to-back events with literary greats, but not with the same intimacy and warmth you will find right here at home this week. We are truly swimming in literary riches and hope you will come out and soak in wit and wisdom at Malaprop's this week.
The painstakingly researched, compulsively readable, masterfully written history of the Biltmore Estate and the Vanderbilts we have all waited for is finally here. All of us who live in Asheville know at least a little about these subjects, but now we can all be experts thanks to NYT best-selling author Denise Kiernan's The Last Castle: The Epic Story of Love, Loss, and American Royalty in the Nation's Largest Home. Those of you who read The Girls of Atomic City know that the story could not have been placed in better hands.
Denise will be at the store tonight at 6 pm to talk about the book with her friend, NYT bestselling author Karen Abbott (Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy). If you saw them here together before, you know this will be fun!
Call us if you don't already have your tickets!
We also have the honor of hosting Celeste Ng here tomorrow night at 6 to talk about her new novel Little Fires Everywhere. This is a compelling story that deftly weaves in complex social issues and raises questions about what we value and how those values affect others. She is an astute observer of human nature, but as those of you who read her first book, Everything I Never Told You, know, she is also a hugely gifted wordsmith. Tommy Hays will be here to talk craft and story with her, so don't miss it!
See you soon!
